Follow these to tips to preserve hair and to ensure its reusability
1. If possible wait 3 - 4 weeks before washing
- To keep scalp clean use an astringent on a cotton round/square or q-tip
- When washing hair be very gentle (“It’s Yours!” Detangling Shampoo recommended)
- Do not use a creamy rinse conditioner, leave-in conditioner recommended
2. To spruce up hair and maintain curly ends, occasionally spray hair with leave-in conditioner & water (“It’s Yours!”)
3. Use light oil as needed for luster, not too heavy – as it may cause build-up
4. Wrap hair at night with silk/satin (not cotton) scarf to preserve style
Taking twists out – Do not wait until night b/4 next appt. to take twist out (will take 4-5 hours)
- Wash hair with kinky twist still in (some should slide out as you shampoo)
- Use a creamy conditioner to aid in taking the rest out, keep hair wet (will make take down easier)
- Comb through each piece of your own hair after removing a twist, wash hair again after combing through your hair thoroughly (deep conditioning recommended) after taking all twists out
- After untwisting each piece of kinky hair to be used again, hold both ends while washing and rinse conditioner from kinky hair, then lay flat to dry completely b/4 storing.
Maintenance Tips for Natural Curl Hair
1.To prepare hair split 1 piece into 3-4 smaller pieces
2.Do not comb or pick hair, finger through hair to untangle (especially in the back where hair can mat while sleeping)
3.Be sure to wrap hair with a silk scarf or bonnet before bed.
